my ecstatic dance mixes take people on a journey that traverses the expected and unexpected, to access both the known and unknown within one's self.
i like to start ecstatic dance experiences slow and meditative, then gradually build a beat and heat, crescendo to a batshit crazy otherworldly peak, descend back to earth, and settle back into stillness.
i have been creating musical journeys for ecstatic dance since 2009. i began by simply crossfading in iTunes playlists, and gradually evolved into a DJ and producer. i am inspired by a wide range of genres and that is reflected in my eclectic mixes.
original compositions
my original work is an ever-evolving organism. i like to create the kind of music i can incorporate in my mixes - that is to say, eclectic and drawing from a wide range of genres.
i began my musical journey as a musical theatre kid, which eventually morphed into me becoming obsessed with classical piano in my adulthood, which morphed into me diving into the world of electronic music once i discovered what a midi controller was.
my mantra
in ecstatic dance, if you don’t like the song, don’t worry. it’ll change. if you do like the song, don’t worry. it’ll change.
follow your own movement when it doesn’t match the music. follow your own movement when it does. stay in the experience, whether it means wildly flailing until your heart is leaping out of your chest or simply following your breath while your body is still.
stick with it, one moment to the next, because our greatest transformation can come right on the other side of the distraction or discomfort.
